Talula restaurant is settled in one of the plush red banquettes. Just take a seat on the lush outdoor patio, and prepare to be impressed by smooth and knowledgeable service, a wide-ranging and well-suited wine list, and some of the best food to be found in South Beach. Talula's idea of Sonoma Valley foie gras, for example, atop blue corn cakes with caramelized pears, candied walnuts, and a drizzle of chile syrup, makes other versions seem like chopped liver. A starter of barbecue quail with oyster mushrooms, sweet potato agnolotti, and brandy-porcini demi-glace likewise pairs high quality ingredients in a cutting edge but still comfortable manner. You may also enjoy the pan-roasted monkfish that is surprisingly boosted with shellfish, porcini mushrooms and a French lentil-and-duck ragoût; and a hefty pork chop gets stuffed with pine nuts and manchego cheese and served in a pool of quince-rosemary jus. And the desserts here have their own fans, as it is impossible to resist the temptation to try the peach tart with pink peppercorn ice cream and Muscat wine syrup.
