Hotel Costes

When the Costes brothers found their hotel in 1995, it at once became one of the most stylish places in Paris. Hotel Costes could have been designed particularly with pure romance in mind with its haute bordello atmosphere, own disc jockey and bar and restaurant frequented by celebrities. The hotel is full of romance and mystery with its candlelit lobby and bar, their red walls, velvet couches and fashionable denizens. You may observe models and movie stars walking by at any time of the day or night, whether for a café or a drink in between shopping or photo shoots. Though it sounds more like a full-service nightclub than a hotel, the suites here, even often small, are charming. Well, you might like to stay at your room, but Costes is located on the Rue St. Honoré near some of the city's best shopping, so you will have lots to do outside the hotel.

Rooms start at approximately $262.

The suite named after notorious Madame Olenska is the largest in the hotel, with a window seat with a view on Irving Place, an antique typewriter and a gorgeous sitting place.

Las Alamandas

The place was created by heiress Isabel Goldsmith. Las Alamandas is the kind of site where movie stars and billionaires head when they want to escape from it all. The place is named for the yellow alamandas flower that grows here plentifully; the resort is located on 70 acres of chaste oceanfront land that is part of a larger 1,500-acre piece also owned by Ms. Goldsmith. Las Alamandas was opened in 1998, and is famous as extremely private resort on Mexico's Pacific coast that  has only six villas and accommodates just 30 people at once. And the level of service dedicated to these 30 guests is superb (the staff-to-guest proportion is usually 10 to 1). Las Alamandas also boasts a freshwater swimming pool, a beach club with a bar and hammocks in the shade, plus the Oasis Restaurant, which will also serve a buffet dinner on the beach. Here you may think that the paradise is not lost after all.

Prices start around $600, but vary according to each villa.
